About

We are two ladies, who were once together, then were apart. Then after marriage, divorce and 11 years later, we met up again, and here we are now walking life’s journey together once more.

Not wanting to repeat life’s mistakes, nor get caught up with the humdrum of day to day life, we decided to take the plunge and go travelling before deciding whether it was each other we wanted to settle down with. We planned on travelling the world in our newly converted gypsy caravan. We would see how far we could go on land without stepping foot on a plane.

We would gather stories from the people we met on the way. She would capture the moments in film and I would write. We would learn, we would travel, we would dream.

On the nights of painful breakups and divorce, we would speak of sunsets and drifting, and now was our time.

We got our affairs in order, sold our houses, settled our divorces, and wound down our lives. Then COVID-19 happened and we were locked in a bubble of time, caught up with commitments and not able to go anywhere.

One day in a moment of dreaming, I proposed that it might be a nice idea to get a narrow boat. It could be our first purchase together, without the pressured commitment of buying a house, or leaving jobs.

When we think about a journey or travel, the assumption is that we need to go somewhere. But does the journey not start right where we are. Does not any moment in time present itself with possibility?

This is no longer just a story of travel, but a story of where we are right now. The trials and tribulations, the projects-the building blocks of dreams.

It turns out we both love a project and this journey is a project of many including: boat painting, wood art, and river tables!

This is a story not just of travel, but an exploration of the vessels we use to get us there- be it a narrow boat, a caravan or even a house. It’s a story of the people we meet along the way. It’s a story of our own journey, of our relationship and the learning along the way.

Join us now as our journey begins- as we move from land to water; as we are fast tracked into learning about the inner workings of the boat that holds us, from the: heating, to the water to the waste; as we create and design our new space; as we adjust to living in a small space, even before we set sail- one narrow boat, two ladies and a (rather large) dog.
